Andy Webb
Biography
Andy began his professional lighting career with a work placement at the BBC Television Centre in London, under the guidance of Dave Davey Lighting Designer working on programs such as Blue Peter, Later with Jools Holland, & Dear Mr Barker. This training allowed Andy to develop a television style of theatre lighting design, with strong elements of Back light.
As a lighting designer, his recent work includes The Dumb Waiter (Jack Jones Productions in association with New Brewery Arts) Glastonbury 2011 Dance Tent, Glastonbury, Skellig, Hairspray, and Custom Covers Showmans Show.
For Workswell Productions, he has lit Kill the Messenger,Alas Poor Yorick, Shakespeare’s Sister’s, and Ralph McGintys World of Shakespeare,
Andy also works as a Producer/Designer for Tigz Productions, and Jack Jones Productions, having produced We Will Rock You, High School Musical, High School Musical 2, Our House the Musical, and most recently The Dumb Waiter.
Andy has lectured at various colleges and secondary schools, teaching GCSE Lighting, BTEC Technical Theatre Diploma, and A Level Lighting Design, with many of his ex-students now having a successful career themselves within the industry.
He has had features on his designs in a range of lighting industry publications, including Lighting+Sound International, Total Productions, and Live Design, through his links and association with Robe UK. Being published in September 2011 is a book he has helped to developed, aimed at the student/education market to be an all in one technical guide to lighting.
