Anthony Newton
Biography
Anthony is the production manager of the Bush Theatre in London's Shepherds Bush, though he continues to work freelance as a re-lighter and assistant lighting designer.
Originally from Scarborough, Anthony trained at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh and upon graduating worked as a lighting designer in the live events industry. Since then he has worked in technical theatre with many companies and has toured extensively in the UK and abroad, with work taking him to Malaysia, China and Venezuela as well as throughout Europe.
Anthony was technical director of the National Student Drama Festival for 3 years and still plays a part in the event as a technical advisor to the festival. He has also worked in various capacities at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the last 9 years; most recently as production manager for Universal Arts' venues and productions.
He spent the first six months of 2008 in Beijing learning to speak Mandarin Chinese and was a judge for the 2009 PLASA Innovation Awards.
