White Light sets the style for Salon Live 2019 shows

Salon International,

the market-leading trade show for hair professionals worldwide recently

returned to ExCeL London. For the seventh year running, White Light supplied

all of the technical lighting solutions for its Salon Live shows.

Salon Live is a series of six shows presented by leading hair experts from around the world, to showcase their latest products, styles and collections. Produced by Max Live Events for M Squared Media Ltd, the parent company of Salon International, teams included Sassoon Academy, Toni & Guy, Schwarzkopf Professional and Guy Tang. The shows comprised tutorials, demonstrations and catwalk sequences. Lighting designer Matt Ladkin comments: “With the different elements to each show, I needed a versatile rig that allowed me to deliver great quality, clean and crisp lighting for the hair demos and tutorials. This was for the benefit of both the naked eye of the audience in the Auditorium, but also for camera feeds. In addition, the rig needed to enable me to create high drama, colour, movement and effects for the catwalk sections of the show.”

WL’s Project Manager, Martin Strods led a team of eight

technicians for the onsite tenancy which included a one day install, one day of

rehearsals and three live days. He adds: “Having worked on Salon Live for many

years, we were aware that the flexibility of the rig was of critical

importance. Working closely with Matt to achieve his vision, we specified a

combination of high-end moving lights for the catwalk moments, along with

static fixtures to enhance the live demos.”

Matt concludes: “It was a great experience working with the WL team. Their extensive equipment inventory coupled with their expertise in delivering live events meant that together we were able execute a seamless series of shows for our client.”
